The Doctors

Dr. Jay M. Perniciaro, B.S., D.C., F.A.A.I.M.


Dr. Jay Perniciaro was raised in Kenner and attended Archbishop Rummel High; received his Bachelor of Science from the UNIVERSITY of NEW ORLEANS in1984. He received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from LIFE UNIVERSITY in Marietta, GA In 1991 and returned home to begin his private practice.

Dr. Jay is the Clinic Administrator of Total Care Injury and Pain Centers with offices in Donaldsonville, Plaquemine, Baton Rouge, Denham Springs and Gonzales, LA

  • He is one of only six Louisiana physicians to complete the Collision Reconstruction Course – from Texas Engineering Extension Services, Texas A & M University.
  • He is one of only ten physicians in Louisiana to complete the advanced certification in Whiplash: The Master’s Program for the Spine Research Institute of San Diego.
  • He recently received a Fellowship in the American Association of Integrative Medicine.
  • He is a Qualified Expert Witness in Chiropractic: Ascension/Assumption/Terrebonne Parish Courts.
  • He has 120 hours post graduate certification in ERHARDT X-RAY Studies-. advanced instruction in Radiographic Skeletal Analysis.
  • He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ascension Parish Tourism Commission.
  • He has held leadership positions in numerous community organizations including the Donalsonville Area Chamber of Commerce, Donaldsonville Elks Club, Donaldsonville Rotary Club.
He resides in Donaldsonville with his wife Wendy, her mother Ruth, and children Josh, Aaron, and Jordan.



Dr. James Leger, D.C.


Dr. James Leger grew up in Houma, La. His father served in the Airforce and traveled a lot in younger years. Settling in Houma from 1977 to 1987 he graduated from H.L. Bourgios High school in Gray, La., then relocated to Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he trained as a diesel mechanic for about 5 years while completing his Pre-Chiropractic undergraduate studies at Jones County Junior College in Ellis Mississippi. Completing Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, MO in April of 2000, he finished a 4 month preceptorship while still enrolled in Chiropractic College. He had the opportunity to work with a great chiropractor in Independence MO., Dr. Ronald Batchelor, where he learned the finer points of private practice.

He returned home to Louisiana and began private practice in September of 2000 and continued until May of 2001 when he joined Dr. Perniciaro at Total Care. From January 2001 - November 2001 he taught structural anatomy and neuro-anatomy, for In Touch Body Works Massage institute in Baton Rouge, La. He specializes in treating children as young as 3 months old to seasoned citizens of 80 years old who want to feel young and have the freedom from pain that would keep them from doing for themselves. He is also skilled with patients injured in motor vehicle collisions and work related accidents.

He resides in Prairieville with his wife, Missy and children. He enjoys fishing when the fish are biting and just riding in the boat if they are not.



Dr. Adam Reeves, B.S., D.C., C.K.T.P.

Born and raised in Eunice, LA, Dr. Reeves played baseball at Eunice High School; graduating in 2002.

After receiving an Associate of Science Degree in 2004 from Louisiana State University-Eunice, he attended Louisiana State University-Alexandria in 2004, where he completed undergraduate pre-requisites for matriculation into Texas Chiropractic College.

At Texas Chiropractic College, he was active in Student American Chiropractic Association, Student Chiropractic Association of Louisiana, Council on Sports Injuries, and served as class vice-president.

He received Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Biology in 2006 from Texas Chiropractic College; receiving then, his Doctorate of Chiropractic Degree from Texas Chiropractic College in 2008.

Dr. Reeves is the first Louisiana Doctor of Chiropractic to become certified in Kinesio Taping (C.K.T.P.).

He is currently the volunteer chiropractor at St. John and Plaquemine High Schools for many sporting events, including football, basketball, baseball, softball, track & field, and cross country.

He is a member of the Iberville Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Knights of Columbus at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine.

Hobbies: Fishing, watching college (LSU) and pro sports, and spending time with wife Nikki and daughter Emily.
